Welcome to High Corn Mill
One of Skipton’s best kept secrets! Set along the picturesque Leeds-Liverpool canal in the heart of Skipton, High Corn Mill is a fascinating historic building that now serves as a thoroughly modern retail and office complex. Visit the Mill, and take a stroll along the canal up into Skipton Woods.
Located within the mill, visitors can see the specially commissioned water turbine which helps to generate part of the town’s electricity supply via the national grid - supplying enough power for up to 20 homes. The mill’s 15kW, 600kg crossflow turbine will make High Corn Mill a carbon neutral complex. It forms the centrepiece of the mill's Historical Innovation Zone. Specially created viewing areas enable visitors to see some of the original machinery used.
Best of all there is a second waterwheel that has been recently restored, and which visitors can operate themselves by pulling a lever that releases water from the mill’s pond. The Historical Innovation Zone is free to visit and open to everyone.
