Skipton’s long-established furniture and furnishings store, The Home Company, is hosting an open event to showcase the work of local artist Victoria Alderson.

The main event, to meet the artist, will take place at the lifestyle store’s High Corn Mill showrooms on May 24th between 5pm-7pm and the shop will be open from 9am. Free refreshments will be provided by RachAls Kitchen. There’s also a chance to win a signed print on the evening.

The dedicated space will feature 15 specially commissioned pieces by Victoria who is rapidly becoming established locally as a gifted watercolour artist with a contemporary approach. The exhibition will cover three categories: Dales, Serengeti and abstract. There will also be a number of signed prints on sale.

Said Andrew Mear, owner of The Home Company: “As a local store we’re particularly keen to support local artists and crafts people who will produce items which enhance the home and Victoria’s work is really striking.”

Victoria’s prints will be on display in the store following the event. The original watercolours will be available for purchase with a special request.

The Home Company has thrived thanks to a belief in bringing together contemporary furniture and accessories that are practical, attractive and great value for money. The spacious show rooms allow the ranges to be displayed in an inspirational way so customers can pick up ideas for their own homes.

Originally built in 1310 to mill Skipton’s corn, High Corn Mill today houses a number of retail, beauty and business tenants as well as the Waterwheel House, which features a 15 Kw crossflow water turbine, creating enough energy to power up to 20 homes around the local area via the National Grid.
