Skipton's long-established furniture and furnishings store, The Home Company, is celebrating a successful open event showcasing the work of local artist Victoria Alderson.

More than 100 people attended the open event at the lifestyle store's High Corn Mill showrooms on May 24th.

Said Andrew Mear, owner of The Home Company: "It was a fantastic event to celebrate the excellent work of Victoria who is rapidly emerging as one of the areas most talented artists. It was a great turnout and we saw a number of local businesses and residents attend - 15 limited edition prints and four original paintings have already sold."

Victoria, who is a self-taught artist based in Embsay, produced 15 specially commissioned pieces for the exhibition which will run through to early Summer. Her pieces cover three categories: Dales, Serengeti and abstract featuring her hallmark colour combination and salt and blowing techniques.

Said Victoria: "This is an amazing opportunity to show my work to a wider audience. I've thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of putting the collection together for the exhibition."

The original watercolours will be available for purchase on request.
