New Year, New Decor

As we head into the New Year, now is the time to breathe new life back into a Winter-worn home.
Skipton’s long-established furniture and furnishings store, The Home Company has some great ideas on how to brighten up a dull room.
Linda Lee, the lifestyle store’s manager said: “You don’t have to change everything at once. It can be easy to get carried away, but small changes can make a huge difference.”
Start with simple tweaks to accessories which have a huge impact on a living space. Make a bold statement with cushions in fashionable shades including, Pantone’s colour of the year ‘Living Coral’ or of-the-moment bright orange, sunshine yellow or vivid blue. Prices start from a reasonable £14.95 to £29.
If you want a new focal point in a room, a beautiful piece of artwork can add real ‘wow’ factor. Try floral prints or striking abstract images such as Up Up and Away or Lemon and Grey Sparkle (both pictured) to create a lasting impression.
A small new item of furniture can also change the dynamic of a room, like a stylish coffee table. The Heaven Coffee Table at £159, with black chrome legs and a clear glass top and shelf can inject real energy; or the quirky Jual coffee table (pictured) at £379, combining walnut with black to give a contemporary look.
Wakeup a dark corner by adding a table lamp in a fresh hue. The Bauhaus Ochre table lamp (pictured) in bright yellow is perfect and retails from £69.
If it’s time to invest in a total room overhaul, go for the stunning Dales collection (pictured) – featuring both plain and patterned fabrics to give a great combination of style, comfort and value for money.
Said Linda: “As we make resolutions and fresh starts in 2019, this is the perfect time of year to look at revitalising the home. Even a small change can really transform a room.”
